We empower aging people. Aging people: that’s everyone.  Build a town that works for 8-year-olds, add taller chairs, and it will mostly work for 80-year-olds.

Who
we are

We are a caucus of residents advocating public policies that support residents of all ages and abilities being fully included in our community.

Carbondale is a full-fledged charter municipality with an educated populace, two major ethnic groups, a radio station, a weekly newspaper, and less than 7,000 people. What a perfect laboratory for participatory democracy!

All Ages All Abilities All Included

In existence since 2019, we are the driving force connecting Carbondale to The World Health Organization and AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. “Age-Friendly” means friendly to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds

What we do

Our work is always guided by AARP’s Eight Domains of Livability:

As of July, 2019, 12 Colorado counties and municipalities belong to AARP’s network of age-friendly communities, including nearby Eagle and Pitkin Counties and the town of Fruita. The State of Colorado joined in September of 2018, when Governor Hickenlooper announced a statewide program called “Lifelong Colorado.” Carbondale is the 12th Colorado member and  the first to initiate “Age-Friendly'” at the grass-roots level.
